Job Title: Senior Lead Irrigation Technician


Position Overview

Pay Range: $27.00 – $35.00 per Hour


The Senior Lead Irrigation Technician is the primary technical authority in the field, responsible for the high-level maintenance, diagnostic repair, and installation of complex irrigation systems. This role is designed for a technical expert who can work independently, solve intricate hydraulic and electrical issues, and lead a crew with a focus on efficiency and quality. You are the "boots on the ground" leader who ensures every job is completed to the highest standard while mentoring junior staff.


Key Responsibilities


Advanced Technical Execution
  • Specialized Diagnostics: Lead the troubleshooting of complex systems using electrical diagnostic equipment, including multi-meters, valve locators, and fault finders.
  • Complex Repairs: Perform high-level repairs on mainlines, master valves, and various pump station components.
  • Controller Management: Program and manage advanced "Smart" and Wi-Fi-enabled controllers; perform system audits to optimize water conservation.
  • Heavy Equipment Operation: Expertly operate trenchers, excavators, and skid loaders for system renovations and new installs.


Field Leadership & Mentorship
  • Crew Supervision: Lead a technician assistant or small crew, ensuring they follow safety protocols and remain productive throughout the day.
  • Training: Provide on-the-job training for junior technicians, specifically on pipe-fitting techniques, wiring, and site cleanup.
  • Quality Control: Finalize all site visits with a rigorous "test and adjust" phase to ensure 100% coverage and zero leaks before leaving.
Operations & Administration
  • Digital Reporting: Accurately document all work, site photos, and materials used in BOSS Mobile to ensure seamless client billing.
  • Inventory Mastery: Take "ownership" of your assigned service truck, ensuring it is fully stocked, standardized, and maintained according to company policy.
  • Client Interaction: Act as the face of the company on-site, explaining technical repairs to customers and providing recommendations for system upgrades.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on irrigation experience, with a proven track record of handling commercial-grade systems.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert knowledge of hydraulics, 2-wire systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive manual labor (digging, trenching).
  • Certifications: IA Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT) or similar state licensing is highly preferred.
  • Compliance: Valid driver’s license with a clean record and strict adherence to the company uniform and safety policies.
