DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe Senior Inventory Management Clerk is responsible for coordinating and executing the movement, setup, and management of materials, equipment, and program areas to support operational needs. This role ensures that resources are efficiently distributed, facilities are properly prepared, and program areas are relocated or dismantled as required. The position also provides hands-on support during natural disasters and emergency situations, including the deployment of supplies, setup of temporary facilities, and construction or assembly of necessary furniture and equipment.
- Coordinate and execute the movement, setup, and takedown of facilities and program areas.
- Move, organize, and maintain inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Assist in building, assembling, or arranging furniture and equipment for program areas, temporary facilities, or emergency response setups.
- Monitor and maintain proper storage and organization of materials to prevent damage or loss.
- Provide logistical support during natural disasters or emergency situations, including rapid deployment of resources and establishment of operational facilities.
- Relocate program areas or equipment as needed to accommodate operational priorities or special projects.
- Perform physical inventory checks to ensure availability and condition of critical resources.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely movement and setup of materials for projects or events.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the department’s operational and logistical needs
PHYSICAL EFFORT:The position requires lifting of heavy items of up to 60 pounds and/or walking on rough surfaces routinely and/or regular physical exertion such as climbing of ladders.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTSRequires a high school diploma or GED.
May require a valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSTwo (2) years of inventory control, materials management, or record keeping experience are required. May require experience in operating a forklift and other motorized or non-motorized materials handling equipment.

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.** - Knowledge of logistics, inventory management, and material handling procedures.
- Ability to coordinate large-scale setup and takedown of facilities and program areas.
- Skilled in moving and assembling furniture and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to natural disasters and emergency situations.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, external partners, and emergency response personnel.
- Physically able to lift, move, and manipulate equipment and materials as needed.
- Experience in disaster response, emergency logistics, or large-scale facility operations is highly desirable.
- A valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.

SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIREDNone. However, the department may administer a skill assessment evaluation.

SALARY INFORMATION GRANT FUND POSITION
Grants & Special funded positions are dependent upon continued available funds. If funding is no longer available, employee may be laid off or transferred. Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
