The Panther Group is seeking a W2 Contract (12 months with potential for multiple yearly renewals) Senior Infrastructure Project Manager to support a leading university’s Information Technology Services (ITS) team in Boston, MA. This is a high-impact role responsible for driving large-scale infrastructure and IT initiatives, including networking, audio-visual systems, and IT asset management projects.
Top 3 Skills Required:
- Experience managing infrastructure projects, including networking and audio-visual systems (experience within higher education is a plus).
- Experience managing IT asset management projects (e.g., laptops, desktops, mobile devices), including designing and implementing related processes.
- Location: 3-4 days onsite in Boston

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead end-to-end delivery of large, complex IT infrastructure projects
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
Infrastructure & Asset Management Projects
- Manage infrastructure initiatives including networking and AV systems
- Oversee IT asset management projects (laptops, desktops, mobile devices), including process design and implementation
- Coordinate installation and deployment activities across multiple teams and vendors
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary liaison between IT, business units, vendors, and leadership
- Communicate project updates, risks, and milestones to stakeholders and executive teams
- Build strong relationships across cross-functional teams
Team & Vendor Management
- Lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment
- Manage third-party vendors and contractors supporting infrastructure and cabling projects
- Ensure quality delivery, timelines, and accountability across all parties
Reporting & Financial Oversight
- Track project performance, budgets, and deliverables
- Provide regular status reports and executive-level updates
- Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and process optimization
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, or related field
- 8–10+ years of IT Project Management experience
- Proven experience managing infrastructure projects (networking, AV, etc.)
- Experience with IT asset management programs and process implementation
- Strong experience managing cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Proficiency with tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or ServiceNow
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to work onsite in Boston 3–4 days per week
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP, Agile, PRINCE2, or similar certification
- Experience in higher education environments
- Familiarity with construction-related IT infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of cabling systems (fiber, copper, coaxial) and industry standards (e.g., BICSI)
- Experience reviewing blueprints or AutoCAD documentation
- RCDD certification (active or inactive) is a plus

Pay Rate is $70 - $90 an hour DOE
