Job Title: Sr. Data Engineer
Employment Type: 3–6-month, Contract to hire
Location: Denton, TX – 3-day onsite hybrid
Pay Range: $50-65/hr. (W2) - $90-110k upon conversion (excellent benefits)
Summary:
Akkodis is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Data Engineer to join an exciting company. This will be a contract to hire role, working a hybrid schedule in Denton, TX. The Senior Data Engineer leads the design, development, and support of enterprise data platforms and analytics solutions. This role focuses on building modern cloud and hybrid data ecosystems—leveraging Oracle Cloud technologies, integration platforms, and business intelligence tools—to enable institutional reporting, advanced analytics, and data-driven decision-making.
This position is responsible for architecting and maintaining operational data stores, enterprise data warehouses, and data lakes across both cloud and on-premises environments.
Responsibilities:
Data Architecture & Engineering
- Design, build, and maintain enterprise data platforms including data warehouses, data marts, operational data stores, and data lakes
- Develop scalable, secure cloud and hybrid solutions using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and related technologies
- Create and maintain logical and physical data models for analytics and reporting
- Architect robust data ingestion and transformation pipelines for structured and semi-structured data
- Establish enterprise data standards, governance practices, and metadata management processes
- Optimize large-scale data environments through performance tuning, indexing, and partitioning strategies
- Support modernization initiatives transitioning legacy systems to cloud-based architectures
Data Integration & ETL/ELT
- Design and manage ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), SnapLogic, SSIS, and SQL-based technologies
- Develop reusable integration components, workflows, and automation frameworks
- Integrate enterprise systems including ERP, HCM, SIS, CRM, and third-party platforms
- Build APIs and data integrations using REST, SOAP, SFTP, and event-driven architectures
- Ensure data quality, validation, and reconciliation across all pipelines
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration and performance issues
Analytics & Business Intelligence
- Support analytics initiatives using Power BI, Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC), and similar platforms
- Develop curated datasets, semantic models, and reporting structures
- Translate business requirements into scalable data and reporting solutions
- Enable self-service analytics while maintaining governance and security standards
- Contribute to KPI development, dashboards, and executive reporting
Cloud Platform & Data Operations
- Administer and support Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for data and analytics workloads
- Manage cloud storage, compute, networks, and databases
- Monitor data pipelines, integrations, and system performance
- Implement security protocols, including encryption, backups, and disaster recovery
- Participate in architecture reviews, capacity planning, and performance optimization
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver data solutions aligned to business needs
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and standards development
- Maintain documentation including data dictionaries, workflows, and technical designs
- Contribute to Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD practices
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, ETL/ELT development, or related areas
- Strong experience with enterprise data warehouses, operational data stores, and cloud-based analytics platforms
- Expertise in hybrid cloud and on-prem data ecosystems
- Proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and database optimization
- Experience with Oracle or SQL Server technologies and integration platforms
- Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and data lifecycle management
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as OCI and tools like SnapLogic, OIC, and SSIS
- Experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Oracle Analytics Cloud
- Understanding of Agile, SDLC, and DevOps practices
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
