HD Ships is a leading, technology-powered logistics brokerage operating across
North America.
We are seeking a Senior Collections Specialist to play a key role in managing
the company’s past-due accounts and driving timely cash collections. This position
is responsible for proactive outreach, resolving payment issues, and working
closely with internal teams to ensure efficient resolution of outstanding balances.
The ideal candidate brings strong collections experience in a high-volume,
transactional environment and is comfortable handling customer escalations while
maintaining strong professional relationships. This is a hands-on role critical to
improving cash flow and supporting the overall effectiveness of the credit and AR
function.
Key Responsibilities
Proactively manage past-due customer accounts, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
Conduct high-volume outbound collections outreach via phone and email to drive payments.
Lead escalation calls with customers to address delinquent accounts andnegotiate payment resolutions.
Track and manage promises to pay (PTPs), ensuring commitments aredocumented and followed through.
Collaborate with the Credit and AR team to identify and resolve billing
discrepancies, disputes, and short payments.
Escalate high-risk or severely delinquent accounts to management with
clear recommendations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of collection activities in the
company’s systems.
Support weekly AR reviews by providing updates on account status, risks,
and collection strategies.
Work cross-functionally with Sales and Operations to resolve customer
issues impacting payment.
Contribute to continuous improvement of collections processes and
workflows.
Qualifications
3–5+ years of experience in collections or accounts receivable,
preferably in logistics, transportation, or a high-volume B2B environment.
Proven track record of managing delinquent accounts and meeting or
exceeding collection targets.
Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills with the ability to handle
difficult conversations professionally.
Experience tracking and managing promises to pay and payment plans.
Familiarity with AR systems and collections tools.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a broader
team.
Logistics brokerage experience is considered an asset.
