Responsibilities

The Senior Calibration Specialist is the highest-level technician position within Cordis with a minimum of six (6) years’ commercial calibration experience preferred. As a Senior Calibration Specialist at this level, you will be expected to calibrate, troubleshoot, and adjust higher-level equipment across a minimum of eight (8) disciplines, with expert knowledge in three (3) disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Dimensional, Temperature or Pressure). Proficiency and expertise are determined in accordance with Cordis’ technician skills progression matrix. As a Senior Calibration Specialist, you will be expected to work independently within the lab or onsite at a customer location, with limited or no guidance. CCT or CMT certification is desired for this role.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform calibration work and preventive maintenance with little to no supervision
  • Proficient with electrical calibrations.
  • Troubleshooting experience is preferred.
  • Conduct independent research when necessary
  • Coordinate and manage daily workloads without direction from manager
  • Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques
  • Maintain calibration standards and operating equipment
  • Understand and apply uncertainties to measurements made
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot manufacturing and labs’ scopes equipment
  • Work effectively with operations and lab support staff
  • Working knowledge and competency in eight (8) disciplines and expert in three (3) disciplines preferred
  • Fulfill duties safely under working conditions, in keeping with Company requirements and standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Primary Objectives

  • Call upon high-level skills, techniques, and processes to calibrate, troubleshoot, and adjust a high volume of high-level equipment with few errors
  • Coordinate work schedule for the site
  • Prepare detailed analysis of calibration processes and uncertainties
  • Develop and implement process improvements
  • Develop team leader skills and responsibilities
  • Train and advise lower-level technicians

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Six+ (6+) years of commercial calibration experience.
  • Associate degree from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successful completion of assigned training materials through on-the-job training, online content.
  • Elite interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated learner with the ability to learn new skills related to calibration and calibration processes
  • Ability to take direction and learn from feedback
  • Ability to communicate well with supervisors, solve problems effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualification:

  • CCT or CMT certification
  • Extensive statistical background
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office computer software including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills
  • Experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics

Working Conditions

  • Light office and mechanical work.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks involving bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
  • Standing and climbing as required.

The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay / CompensationThe expected pre-tax pay rate for this position is $55,000 – $69,300 annually. Actual pay may fluctuate outside of the listed range depending on skills, education, experience, job-related knowledge and location.
