Role Description
This is a full-time on-site Senior Bookkeeper role based in Eatontown, NJ. The Senior Bookkeeper is a key contributor to the financial integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency of the organization. This role oversees day-to-day accounting operations, ensures accurate posting of financial transactions, and leads a team responsible for AR/AP, reconciliations, and compliance filings. The Senior Bookkeeper will service as a subject matter expert in bookkeeping and financial controls while leading continuous process improvement and tam training initiatives. This role demands a blend of hands-on accounting skills, leadership, and familiarity with manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and execute all aspects of daily accounting operations including A/P, A/R, Cash Receipts, Credit Card Transactions, and General Ledger Entries.
- Manage and reconcile employee expense submissions through expense management system; ensure policy compliance and timely reimbursement.
- Prepare monthly financial closings including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations (bank, prepaid, accrued expenses, etc.)
- Lead preparation and filing of multi-state sales and use tax returns; maintain exemption certificates and compliance records.
- Manage customer and vendor account setups, credit reviews, and collection processes.
- Supervise and train accounting team; maintain training documentation and department matrix.
- Handle escalated customer/vendor issues and ensure high-level of service and professionalism.
- Collaborate with external accountants on monthly and year-end closings and audits.
- Audit fixed assets, petty cash, and maintain depreciation schedules.
- Assist with special projects, software implementation, and continuous process improvement.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Self-starter, motivated and positive attitude, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in manufacturing.
- Proficiency with SAGE 100 and Microsoft 365
- Strong understanding of GAAP, sales/use tax compliance, and month-end close processes.
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
