Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, supporting month-end close processes, and contributing to financial reporting and operational improvements. This role works closely with the Accounting Manager and plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial data and compliance with firm policies and regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain general ledger integrity by independently reviewing financial transactions to ensure accurate posting; prepare and post journal entries as needed.
  • Lead and complete month-end close processes in 3E, including preparation of:
  • Trial balance
  • Balance sheet
  • Income statement
  • Cash flow statement
  • Other required financial reports
  • Prepare detailed reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with banking documentation and related financial reporting requirements.
  • Prepare tax schedules and support partnership tax reporting (partnership tax experience preferred).
  • Participate in annual audits and special-purpose audits.
  • Develop and document financial department procedures.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, technological upgrades, and other efficiency initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Accounting.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • 7–10+ years of accounting experience in a law firm or professional services firm.
  • Experience with 3E (Elite 3E) accounting system.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and financial data analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to compile, review, and analyze financial statements from trial balance.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Positive, collaborative attitude with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Law firm experience is preferred but not necessary.
