The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, supporting month-end close processes, and contributing to financial reporting and operational improvements. This role works closely with the Accounting Manager and plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial data and compliance with firm policies and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Maintain general ledger integrity by independently reviewing financial transactions to ensure accurate posting; prepare and post journal entries as needed.
- Lead and complete month-end close processes in 3E, including preparation of:
- Trial balance
- Balance sheet
- Income statement
- Cash flow statement
- Other required financial reports
- Prepare detailed reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Assist with banking documentation and related financial reporting requirements.
- Prepare tax schedules and support partnership tax reporting (partnership tax experience preferred).
- Participate in annual audits and special-purpose audits.
- Develop and document financial department procedures.
- Identify and implement process improvements, technological upgrades, and other efficiency initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Accounting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- 7–10+ years of accounting experience in a law firm or professional services firm.
- Experience with 3E (Elite 3E) accounting system.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and financial data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to compile, review, and analyze financial statements from trial balance.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Positive, collaborative attitude with the ability to work effectively across teams.
- Law firm experience is preferred but not necessary.
