Senior Accountant | CPA Firm, Audit Compilation/Review & Tax

Independent CPA Firm

Dallas, TX

Senior Accountant position with a 15 person independent CPA firm offering broader exposure across audit, accounting, and tax

If you have built a solid base in audit and want a role that gives you a bit more range, this could be a very good move.

This is a 15 person, 2 partner independent CPA firm in Dallas TX that is looking to hire an Audit Senior into a close knit team where your work will be seen and your development will not get lost in the shuffle. The core of the role is audit, but there is also the chance to build broader exposure to tax over time.

That will suit someone who enjoys assurance work but does not want to be boxed into one lane forever. In a smaller independent firm like this, you can become more well rounded, work more closely with decision makers, and build a broader technical skill set than you often can in a larger environment.

Why this role stands out

A lot of roles give you the title, the workload, and the responsibility, but very little variety.

This one is different.

You will still be focused on audit, review, and client delivery, but you will also have the opportunity to get involved in tax work and broaden your experience as your confidence grows. For someone who wants to keep doors open for the future, that matters.

You will also be joining a smaller firm environment where the Partners are accessible, the team is close, and good work gets noticed.

What you will be doing

Lead fieldwork and support the delivery of audit engagements for a range of clients

Prepare and review audit files, financial statements, and supporting workpapers

Work directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and keep engagements moving

Support planning, testing, completion work, and final delivery of assignments

Supervise and support less experienced staff where needed

Work closely with the Partners on engagement progress, client needs, and technical matters

Gain exposure to tax work alongside your audit responsibilities, building broader experience over time

Help deliver a strong client service experience across both assurance and wider firm work

What the firm is looking for

Public accounting experience in audit at Semi Senior or Senior level

Strong experience supporting or leading audit assignments

Comfortable working directly with clients and taking ownership of your work

Someone who wants to broaden their experience and develop beyond a pure audit track

An interest in gaining tax exposure over time

CPA or CPA track preferred

Strong communication skills, good attention to detail, and a practical approach

Salary and benefits

Competitive salary, up to $110,000 for the right candidate

Full time permanent position

Long term growth within an independent CPA firm

Broader technical exposure across audit and tax

Location

Dallas, Texas

This Audit Senior job is ideal for someone who enjoys audit but wants a broader future than a narrow assurance only path. If you want to develop in a smaller firm where you can build both depth and range, this is worth a look.

Only at ~87% of the spec? Perfect. Apply anyway. The CPA firms I work with want interesting, capable people, not carbon copies.

Don’t overthink it. Worst case: a helpful chat about your next step. Best case: the role that gets you unstuck.
