Title: Advisor, Joint Venture Accounting


Overview:

The Advisor, Joint Venture Accounting is responsible for managing financial activities related to multiple joint venture partnerships. This role ensures accurate accounting, budgeting, cash management, and reporting for joint venture arrangements, while acting as the primary accounting point-of-contact for internal and external stakeholders.


CANDIDATE MUST HAVE FOLLOWED EXPERIENCE:

  1. Joint-Venture accounting
  2. GL Experience (revenue and billing is not what they do in her group)
  3. Reporting Experience – not someone who creates an excel sheet and send to a reporting team…. they ARE the reporting team. She needs some who can generate billing statements and financial statements


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare & review monthly financial statements and support schedules for internal leadership and JV partners
  • Prepare, review, and approve monthly journal entries, including joint venture billings
  • Conduct research and analysis for partner inquiries and ad-hoc requests
  • Work closely with Business Development, Treasury, Regulatory, Reporting, Legal, and Tax teams
  • Prepare annual budgets for internal teams and individual JV partnerships
  • Coordinate JV cash calls and cash distributions with partners
  • Prepare/review quarterly & annual FERC Form 3 and Form 2 filings
  • Manage account reconciliations & monthly variance analysis
  • Support internal/external auditors during quarterly and year-end audits
  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls & documentation
  • Provide guidance to junior analysts; support special projects as required


Scope & Interaction

  • Engage with all management levels to optimize JV performance and cost recovery
  • Provide recommendations to senior leaders, auditors, and JV financial managers
  • Support regulatory filings, partnership negotiations, construction/operating budgets, and economic evaluations
  • Represent accounting in partner audits, financing transactions, rating presentations, and tax discussions


Internal Stakeholders

Business Development, Regulatory, Legal, Treasury, Tax, Financial Reporting, Operations Accounting, FP&A, Economic Evaluation, Investor Relations.


External Stakeholders

JV partners, independent auditors, partner audit teams, and regulatory filing bodies.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 4+ years relevant accounting experience
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple groups
  • CPA preferred (not required)
