A global financial technology firm is looking for a Vice President-level Sales Account Manager to accelerate growth within the wholesale banking market. This role combines approximately 60% new business development with 40% strategic account management, supporting a major Tier 1 institutional banking client based in Chicago.
The successful candidate will focus on driving revenue growth across enterprise banking technology solutions while managing and expanding a key strategic client relationship. The Opportunity
This role will lead strategic sales and relationship management initiatives within the wholesale banking sector. The individual will own revenue generation activities across both prospective and existing banking clients while acting as the senior relationship lead for a major global custody and asset servicing institution.
The position requires a highly consultative approach, balancing business development (“hunter”) responsibilities with strategic account growth (“farmer”) activities, while maintaining a strong focus on executive engagement, solution-based selling, and long-term partnership development.
Key Responsibilities include:
New Business Development (60%)
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across Tier 1 and Tier 2 banking institutions
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans focused on wholesale banking technology solutions
- Engage senior stakeholders and C-level executives across operations, technology, treasury, payments, and transaction banking
- Lead consultative sales engagements spanning multiple enterprise software products and platforms
- Manage complex sales cycles from prospecting through negotiation and contract execution
- Build strong market expertise across wholesale banking, payments, liquidity, cash management, and transaction banking ecosystems
- Partner closely with product, pre-sales, delivery, and leadership teams to position solutions effectively
Strategic Account Management (40%)
- Act as the senior relationship manager for a major global institutional banking client specializing in custody, asset servicing, wealth administration, and investment operations
- Build and strengthen strategic relationships across both business and technology stakeholders
- Identify and drive cross-sell and upsell opportunities throughout the client’s banking and operational landscape
- Ensure exceptional client satisfaction and long-term partnership growth
- Coordinate internal stakeholders to support successful delivery and ongoing account expansion
- Develop account growth strategies aligned with the client’s transformation and modernization goals
Required Experience
- Proven success in enterprise technology sales within Tier 1 and Tier 2 banking organizations
- Strong experience in strategic account management and relationship management within financial services, either from a banking, fintech, or payments background
- Demonstrated ability to sell complex, multi-product enterprise software solutions into banking institutions
- Deep understanding of wholesale banking, treasury, transaction banking, payments, liquidity, and corporate banking environments
- Experience managing large-scale banking clients and senior executive relationships
- Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding enterprise software sales targets
- Strong consultative, value-based, and solution-oriented sales approach
- Background working within fintech, banking technology, or enterprise software organizations
Preferred Experience
- Experience selling cloud-native, API-driven, or digital transformation solutions
- Understanding of core banking modernization and operational transformation initiatives
- Familiarity with large-scale banking technology ecosystems and integration environments
- Established network within North American banking institutions preferred
