Summary

The Model Teacher leader will provide instruction for 2 or more classes/ courses and provide coaching/mentoring to fellow teachers.

Essential Duties
  • Provides content-related and appropriate instruction based on Fulton County’s curriculum
  • Provides model classroom environment which promotes active learning in subject area
  • Assists teachers with the implementation of the Georgia Standards
  • Works with teachers to improve classroom management and climate through the implementation of effective instructional methods
  • Analyzes student and teacher test data to determine teaching and learning effectiveness for each concept taught
  • Analyzes student test data and advises teachers and appropriate staff of trends, outcomes, needs and effective practices
  • Demonstrates, monitors, and evaluates the application of effective teaching strategies
  • Recommends best practices to achieve the desired student learning outcomes
  • Coordinates site-based professional learning activities as needed
  • Conducts professional development at the school as needed
  • Exhibits knowledge of performance-based instruction and assessment
  • Participates in periodic professional learning activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal
Required Education Bachelor’s Degree in a related fieldCertification/Licensure For Elementary: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education for Elementary SchoolFor Secondary Math: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Middle Grades Mathematics (4-8) or Mathematics (6-12)For Secondary Reading/Language Arts: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Middle Grades Reading (4-8), Middle Grades Language Arts (4-8), English (6-12), or Reading Endorsement in addition to a base secondary field (6-12)For Secondary Science: Middle Grades Science (4-8), Science (6-12), or a related science field (6-12)For Secondary Social Science: Middle Grades Social Science (4-8) or related social science field (6-12)Experience Qualifications

Minimum of three years successful classroom teaching experience within the last six years required

  • Must have professional knowledge and proven use of effective teaching strategies and professional knowledge of curriculum-based assessments
  • Strong desire to work with at-risk students and developing teachers
  • Ability to communicate with adults and student learners at all ability levels
  • High technological skill level required
  • Demonstrated ability to work with personal and confidential information
  • Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects and responsibilities
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
  • Must be able to collaborate effectively with District and school personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of people
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
