Assists, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
- Advises senior manufacturing leaders on safety compliance best practices, concerns and preventative actions.
- Assist with developing, scheduling and conducting training classes for employees on safe work practices.
- Documents and maintains safety files and records.
- Monitors operations to identify potential risks and takes measures to prevent incidents and/or accidents.
- Performs safety surveys and inspections to identify and correct workplace hazards.
- Prepares recommendations for corrective or preventive measures and follows up on recommendations to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Conducts post-accident investigation and assist supervisor(s) with problem solving for possible accident causes.
- Assists with creating, developing and/or updating written safety plans, procedures and/or policies.
- Assists in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.
- Coaches supervisors, team leaders and employees about safety policies and expectations; monitors to ensure compliance; reports issues and/or trains employees when needed.
- Acts as one of several site points of contact for urgent situations, or incidents requiring support from a safety team members, such as reasonable suspicion situations, employees needing first aid, etc.
- Primary support resource for second shift on incidents, including reporting and handling of situations; responsible to notify other leaders of safety and management as needed.
Additional Information:
- Comfortable working in large, non-temperature controlled manufacturing and distribution environment.
- Prior Industrial Forklift experience is a plus, willingness to be trained a must
- Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift as needed to support and maintain a safe workplace.
- Ensure that the workplace is monitored and is fully in compliance with all applicable OSHA standards, rules and regulations to maintain safety in manufacturing facilities.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles is a plus.
