Job Summary
We’re seeking an experienced, results-driven Regional Field Sales Representative to support the growth of our consumer packaged goods (CPG) and foodservice channels. This is a commission-driven independent contractor role designed for individuals with a strong background in foodservice and CPG sales who thrive in a high-autonomy, performance-based environment.
In this role, you’ll focus on opening new retail and foodservice accounts, building relationships with buyers, and driving consistent reorder volume across your assigned territory. Key responsibilities include executing field sales strategies across grocery, independent markets, and other relevant channels to expand brand presence and revenue.
The Regional Field Sales Representative will report directly to the Head of Wholesale CPG and play a critical role in driving growth, strengthening customer relationships, and executing go-to-market strategies in the field.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue and account growth targets within the assigned territory.
- Drive growth across wholesale, Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), and foodservice channels by prospecting new business opportunities, managing key accounts, and strengthening customer relationships.
- Identify, pitch, and open new retail, grocery, café, hospitality, and foodservice accounts to expand market presence and distribution opportunities.
- Organize and conduct coffee tastings, product demos, and promotional activations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area to support customer acquisition and brand awareness.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with grocery buyers, independent markets, distributors, and foodservice partners to increase sales volume and repeat business.
- Utilize knowledge of the food & beverage, Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), and Direct Store Distribution (DSD) industries to identify market opportunities, support product placement, and respond to industry trends.
- Collaborate with distribution partners and internal teams to support product availability, account servicing, and operational execution.
- Support brand presence at agreed-upon trade shows, industry events, and community activations in partnership with the Head of Wholesale CPG.
- Travel within and outside assigned territories, as directed, to support market expansion and business development opportunities.
- Partner with the Head of Wholesale CPG on strategic sales initiatives, large-scale opportunities, and key account development.
- Provide regular updates on sales activity, pipeline progress, market feedback, and competitive insights to the Head of Wholesale CPG.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of customer interactions, sales activity, and account updates within the company CRM system on a daily basis.
Qualifications- 3 or more years experience in Field Sales in the food and beverage industry, preferably in ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages, or CPG products.
- Strong background in beverage sales, with a focus on building and managing relationships with wholesale CPG accounts.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Results-oriented with a track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
- Distribution management experience is a plus.
- Must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area and able to travel regularly throughout the region.
- Ability to travel within the assigned region as needed
- Able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week
- Oakland minimum wage potentially $50k in commission
Benefits & Compensation While the published salary range is a good faith reflection of the targeted salary level for the position, Red Bay Coffee reserves the right to pay outside of the published salary range of:
- Compensation: $18/hr plus up to $50,000 in commissions
