What You’ll Do
- Draft, review, and negotiate loan documents, modification agreements, forbearance agreements, and related finance instruments.
- Represent both borrowers and lenders in commercial real estate loan transactions, including refinancing's, restructurings, and workouts.
- Conduct due diligence on title, leases, organizational documents, and property-level matters.
- Advise clients on risk management, loan servicing issues, and compliance with financing and security agreements.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders (title companies, appraisers, servicers, and co-counsel) to ensure smooth execution of transactions.
- Manage timelines and transaction deliverables, maintaining a proactive approach to deal management.
- Stay current on trends and regulations in commercial real estate finance, distressed debt, and secured lending.
- Provide practical, business-oriented advice to clients in fast-paced and evolving deal environments.
Who You Are
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; admission to Illinois Bar (or the ability to waiver)
- 2+ years of experience in real estate finance at a law firm or in-house legal department.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills with attention to commercial details.
- Experience working with commercial mortgage lenders, borrowers, and institutional investors.
- Excellent communication, project management, and client relationship skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex matters with competing deadlines.
