We are seeking an experienced and motivated Radiation Therapist to join our Radiation Oncology team. This role offers the opportunity to apply advanced technical expertise while playing a key leadership and mentorship role in delivering safe, precise, and compassionate radiation therapy care.


About the Role

The Senior Radiation Therapist provides advanced clinical and technical expertise in the delivery of radiation therapy treatments in accordance with physician prescriptions and established protocols. You will collaborate closely with physicians, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and fellow therapists to support excellent patient outcomes in a state-of-the-art clinical environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately deliver prescribed radiation treatments using advanced treatment machines and CT simulators
  • Rotate across all therapy machines and simulation equipment while maintaining strict protocol adherence
  • Read, interpret, and implement complex computerized treatment plans and physician prescriptions
  • Mentor and provide guidance to staff therapists as directed by clinical leadership
  • Ensure compliance with all radiation safety, quality assurance, and regulatory standards
  • Monitor and evaluate treatment machine performance, assisting with QA, calibration, and commissioning activities
  • Educate and support patients throughout their treatment, prioritizing comfort, safety, and dignity
  • Monitor patient condition and take appropriate clinical action when changes arise
  • Coordinate workflow, patient scheduling, and treatment area operations for optimal throughput
  • Assist with clinical training and evaluation of student therapists
  • Participate in departmental policy development, quality initiatives, and performance benchmarks
  • Represent the department in meetings in the absence of the Clinical Supervisor


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a science-related field or graduate of an AMA-accredited Radiation Therapy program
  • 5+ years of progressive experience as a Radiation Therapist
  • ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy
  • Texas Medical Board licensure (Medical Radiologic Technology)
  • BLS certification (AHA)

Preferred

  • Experience with Varian radiation therapy equipment
  • CT certification


Skills & Attributes

  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, radiation physics, radiobiology, and oncology
  • Advanced technical expertise in radiation oncology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High-level critical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship interest


Work Environment & Additional Details

  • Ambulatory clinic connected to a hospital setting
  • Minimal exposure to ionizing radiation
  • Physical requirements include patient lifting, movement, and positioning
  • On-call responsibilities as part of a rotating schedule
  • Occasional travel within the Houston–Southeast region
