Quality Supervisor – Manufacturing

CoWorx Staffing Services is partnering with a growing manufacturing organization in the Griffin, GA area to identify a Quality Supervisor for a direct-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for a hands-on quality leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Candidates should be local or within a reasonable commuting distance.

Position Overview

The Quality Supervisor will lead day-to-day quality operations on the manufacturing floor, supporting quality initiatives related to production, supplier quality, and material and process control. This individual will oversee quality personnel while ensuring products and processes meet internal standards and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Oversight

  • Lead and support Quality Control Technicians on assigned shifts.
  • Conduct start-of-shift meetings to set priorities, expectations, and staffing assignments.
  • Approve daily time and attendance, managing overtime, coverage, and absenteeism.
  • Train and onboard new quality team members; complete performance evaluations on schedule.
  • Address employee performance, coaching, and disciplinary actions as necessary.

Manufacturing Quality Operations

  • Ensure manufactured components, purchased materials, and assemblies conform to engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Interpret inspection criteria, procedures, and work instructions, ensuring consistent execution across the team.
  • Verify quality controls are actively maintained throughout the manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Ensure all required quality tools, gauges, and inspection equipment are available and properly utilized.
  • Perform daily quality walk-throughs within assigned manufacturing areas.

Process Control & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement and monitor daily quality procedures and measure adherence to internal control standards.
  • Clearly communicate daily production and quality expectations at the start of each shift.
  • Conduct end-of-shift 5S/6S audits and maintain a minimum weekly audit score of 6S in assigned areas.
  • Ensure effective shift pass-down communication for ongoing issues and priorities.
  • Support problem-solving initiatives and corrective actions tied to quality, scrap, and rework.

Training & Documentation

  • Conduct initial training and competency assessments for Quality Controllers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to inspections, audits, and quality metrics.
  • Collaborate with Team Leads and Manufacturing Leadership to resolve quality concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and within scope of qualifications.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment performing quality engineering or quality assurance functions OR at least 2 years in a quality leadership role.
  • 4+ years of proven leadership or supervisory experience in manufacturing operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Planning & Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a structured, methodical manner.
  • Influence & Communication: Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence quality outcomes.
  • Process Improvement: Demonstrated focus on continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Internal Controls: Experience developing, implementing, and improving internal quality control processes.
  • Working knowledge of blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced experience with Lean Manufacturing and statistical tools including 5S/6S, Kaizen, and Toyota Production System methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience leading Continuous Improvement initiatives such as Kaizen events, VSM, SMED, PDCA, root cause analysis, and corrective action programs.
  • Prior experience in high-volume or complex manufacturing environments preferred.
