Summary

Overall responsibility for managing the Quality department in order to establish advanced quality and reliability engineering to enhance product quality, reliability and acceptance.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Set, direct & support priorities of the Quality team (development of accountabilities for each team member)

• Review/re-set objectives in conjunction with on-time performance evaluations

• Develop, implement and improve departmental metrics

• Drive continual improvement process within the Quality department

• Develop a continuous learning process for all staff (proper measurement techniques, identifications fit/function – critical characteristics, standardization of acceptance criteria) • Ensure NCR’s (Nonconformance Reporting), inspection, SPC, Gauge Maintenance, Cost of Quality, internal audits, etc. are accurate and completed in a timely manner

• Lead/support problem resolution and responsiveness of all customer quality related issues

• Customer liaison

• Attend supplier conferences

• Review all 8D reports and corrective actions implemented

• Actively participate in APQP, FMEA and quote review meetings

• Ensure Division maintains IATF 16949 certification

• Improve and maintain accurate Quality procedures and manuals

• Ensure completed implementation of all relevant procedures and instructions

• Regular and punctual attendance at work.

• Compliance with relevant policies, procedures and instructions, including Code of Conduct.

• Periodic travel. This job description may not include all of the employee’s duties and responsibilities, the scope of which remains at all times subject to the management and direction of the employee's supervisor.


Supervisory Responsibilities

• This position has managerial responsibility for all employees in the Quality department.


Qualification, Education, & Experience

• College degree or highly technical training equal to a 4-year program or 4-10 years of manufacturing experience in the metal working industry

• 5- 10 years of supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment

• Experience with formal documentation systems and methods particularly ISO9001 and IATF 16949


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Able to acquire and analyze data using statistical methods across a spectrum of business environments to facilitate process analysis and improvements

• Ability to use and implement Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Root Cause Analysis

• Able to write 8D reports

• Demonstrate departmental sustainability to adherence of set policies and procedures

• Ability to pass along knowledge ensuring clarify and understanding

• Strong technical writing experience

• Strong organizational skills

• Excellent proven project management, and problem solving skills

• Able to effectively communication with internal and external customers using a variety of methods

• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards

• Basic level ERP systems

• Basic data entry computer skills

• Ability to recognize and understand Globally Harmonized Hazard Identification

• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards

• Knowledge of ISO9001 and IATF16949 quality systems Reasoning Ability

• Analyze data and facts and draw conclusions, judgments or inferences.

• Evaluate information gathered by observation, review of data or reports, and communication with others.

• Critical analysis.

• Problem solving.

• Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Work Environment Office/Manufacturing

• This position is mixed office and manufacturing.

While in the plant, the employee may work with heavy machinery and be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, oil collection on the floors, and noise levels generally up to 100 decibels. Occasional time might be spent in meetings or traveling.


Personal Protective Equipment

• While in the plant, the employee must wear eye protection, ear protection, and safety shoes at all times, and proper gloves when working with chemicals, sharp components or as otherwise required.


Notes:

Key Components:

  • Automotive Background is essential, and someone with Metal Stamping Experience
  • Was or has experience as a Quality Engineer, degree would be preferred, but not required
  • Metrology background
  • Experience with AIAG requirements
  • Creating PPAP’s is a requirement
  • Understands SPC/Process Capabilities
  • Knowledge of measuring systems analysis (MSA / GR&R)
