The Quality Manager will own and continuously improve the company’s Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring it remains effective, scalable, and aligned with business growth and regulatory requirements. With the QMS now implemented and DOT-regulated products in production, this role is focused on execution, compliance, and continuous improvement across manufacturing, supplier quality, and product validation.
This individual will ensure robust quality processes are maintained across production, drive adherence to procedures, and strengthen quality culture in a fast-paced, safety-critical startup environment. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with hands-on execution and a bias for action.
Key Responsibilities
QMS Ownership & Compliance
- Own and maintain the existing QMS, ensuring continued alignment with ISO 9001 requirements and readiness for certification and surveillance audits.
- Drive process adherence and effectiveness, ensuring procedures are followed and continuously improved.
- Lead internal audits and coordinate external audits (ISO, customer, regulatory).
- Manage document control processes within the ERP system and ensure configuration control of all quality records.
Production Quality & Execution
- Oversee quality for DOT-regulated production, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal specifications.
- Establish and monitor in-process and final inspection systems, ensuring consistent execution on the production floor.
- Ensure robust handling of nonconforming material, including containment, disposition, and corrective action.
- Partner with manufacturing to improve yield, reduce defects, and ensure repeatability of critical processes.
Inspection, Testing & Validation
- Maintain and improve inspection and testing protocols, including destructive and non-destructive testing.
- Ensure all test methods are controlled, validated, and properly documented.
- Oversee calibration systems and ensure measurement integrity across all quality equipment.
- Support qualification and validation of new products and processes.
Traceability & Data Integrity
- Maintain full part and material traceability through the ERP system, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Ensure data integrity across quality records, including test data, certifications, and inspection results.
- Drive improvements in digital traceability and reporting systems.
Supplier Quality
- Own supplier quality performance for critical components (e.g., liners, end fittings).
- Lead supplier qualification, audits, and ongoing performance management.
- Drive supplier corrective actions and ensure timely resolution of quality issues.
- Partner with supply chain to mitigate risk and ensure continuity of supply.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Lead root cause investigations using structured methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA).

- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and operations.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to embed quality into product design and production processes.
- Provide quality input into design reviews, process development, and production readiness.
- Help instill a quality-first culture across the organization.
Team Development (Future Growth)
- As the company scales, support hiring, training, and development of additional quality team members.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations for the quality function.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving safety-critical or regulated products.
- Demonstrated experience operating and improving an existing QMS, not just building one.
