Job Description

The Quality Inspector Team Lead oversees a team of quality inspectors and ensures that products consistently meet or exceed established quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. This role combines hands-on inspection and auditing with leadership responsibilities, driving continuous improvement, effective communication, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to prevent defects and maintain robust quality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify, document, and resolve quality issues in finished products and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, development, and operations, to maintain quality throughout the entire product lifecycle.
  • Communicate quality issues, findings, and recommendations clearly and professionally to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Participate in meetings and presentations to share quality performance updates, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead, motivate, and support a team of quality inspectors, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to team members to enhance their technical skills and understanding of quality standards.
  • Use quality assurance and quality control tools and techniques to identify root causes of defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyze inspection and production data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Prepare and present quality reports and metrics that support informed decision-making.
  • Manage Material Review Board (MRB) meetings, ensuring timely disposition of nonconforming materials and appropriate documentation.
  • Review equipment calibration, validation, and maintenance records to verify that activities are performed correctly, on schedule, and properly documented.
  • Oversee and verify that quality inspection processes are followed consistently and that products meet blueprint and specification requirements.
  • Ensure clear and accurate record-keeping of inspection results and related quality documentation.
  • Work closely with production personnel and quality management to resolve quality concerns and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience in quality control, with a strong track record of identifying and correcting defects in finished products through inspections and testing.
  • Strong experience in quality assurance, with a proactive approach to preventing defects by managing and improving production processes.
  • Solid bg in quality inspection, including evaluating products or services to ensure they meet defined quality standards.
  • Strong understanding of quality inspection within manufacturing processes and production environments.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and production documentation.
  • Excellent visual acuity and the ability to identify even minor defects or deviations from specifications.
  • Familiarity with industry quality standards and regulations relevant to manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting to support quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to interpret quality and production data to identify trends and drive corrective actions.
  • Clear and accurate record-keeping skills for inspection results and quality documentation.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with production personnel, quality management, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to guide and develop a team of inspectors.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control tools and techniques.

Work Environment

This role is based in a modern, air-conditioned manufacturing facility that incorporates state-of-the-art, industry 4.0 technology. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement. The physical requirements include the ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb a portable ladder as needed. The position requires good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination to handle precision measuring tools and inspection equipment effectively. Personal protective equipment is required in designated areas to ensure a safe working environment. The site also offers practical amenities such as electric charging stations, supporting a forward-looking and sustainability-focused workplace.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mesa, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
