Job Title: Quality Inspector / Quality Technician (1st Shift)
Job Description

This 1st shift Quality Technician role runs from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, on the production floor. You inspect precision medical components to ensure they meet strict customer quality requirements and high standards of appearance and performance. You perform in-process and final inspections, verify dimensions, and confirm that every part leaving the facility meets tight tolerances and visual expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed in-process and final inspections of medical parts on the production floor.
  • Verify part dimensions using calipers, micrometers, gauges, optical comparators, and other quality instruments.
  • Use vision systems and Keyence equipment to inspect features and ensure compliance with tight tolerances.
  • Assist with CMM-based inspection activities; receive training as needed to operate CMM equipment.
  • Conduct visual inspections to ensure parts are free of defects and meet cosmetic requirements for medical use.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to understand part specifications, dimensional requirements, and tolerances.
  • Apply solid understanding of decimal point placement and measurement units when taking and recording measurements.
  • Check parts multiple times before they leave the building, including a thorough final inspection.
  • Use microscopes, magnifiers, and optical comparators to examine small or critical features in detail.
  • Document inspection results clearly and accurately, following established quality control and quality assurance procedures.
  • Prepare, review, and/or approve technical documentation related to inspection activities as required.
  • Follow designated inspection workflows so that jobs move through assigned inspection areas efficiently.
  • Work productively throughout the entire shift, inspecting varying lot sizes that may range from hundreds to thousands of pieces.
  • Maintain a clean and organized inspection area and handle parts carefully to avoid damage.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines, including the use of required eyewear and appropriate footwear.
Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience with inspection and quality checks in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints for dimensional and visual requirements.
  • Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Experience performing visual inspection and quality control checks on manufactured parts.
  • General knowledge of decimal point placement and measurement units for accurate readings.
  • Ability to use microscopes, magnifiers, and optical comparators for detailed inspections.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus on optical devices.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare, review, and/or approve technical documentation.
  • Capability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time while performing inspection tasks.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds or more as needed to handle parts and inspection fixtures.
  • Prior knowledge or experience in quality control inspection (preferred).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control principles in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience using vision systems and Keyence inspection equipment.
  • Exposure to CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) inspection, with willingness to learn and receive training.
  • Comfort working with tight tolerances on precision medical components.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to checking parts multiple times.
  • Ability to follow established inspection processes and work independently throughout the shift.

Work Environment

You work on the production floor in designated inspection areas where jobs are brought to you, so you do not need to search for parts. Lot sizes vary, with some jobs consisting of around 500 pieces and others up to 2,000 pieces, and you are expected to remain engaged in inspection work throughout the entire shift. The role is performed on 1st shift, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The environment is focused on precision and quality, with regular use of calipers, micrometers, gauges, microscopes, magnifiers, optical comparators, vision systems, Keyence equipment, and some CMM tools. You may sit or stand for extended periods and occasionally lift 20 pounds or more. The dress code requires footwear with leather uppers and non-slip soles; safety shoes are not required. Eye protection is mandatory, and safety glasses are provided, or you may wear your own prescription glasses if suitable.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
