The NEA, an independent federal agency and the official arts organization for the United States government, supports the advancement of artistic excellence, creativity, and innovation. The NEA OIG is an independent office established by the Inspector General Act, as amended, to evaluate and report on programs and operations of the NEA through independent and objective audits, investigations, and other activities. This includes investigating reports of waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement involving NEA funds; and assessing and reporting on internal controls, financial management, information technology, and other systems that affect the operations of NEA programs and grantees. As a small office, the NEA OIG provides opportunity for experience in many areas. While the Auditor position's main duties focus on conducting performance audits that comply with government auditing standards, there will also be opportunities to participate in procurement activities, serve as a Contracting Officer's Representative, provide feedback on reports, and add soft skills to your employee toolkit.

MajorDuties

  • In this position, you will serve as Auditor. Typical work assignments include: Conducting audits and special reviews, ensuring full compliance with U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), Government Auditing Standards (Yellow Book) and Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) Quality Standards for Auditing. Preparing, evaluating, and writing conclusions, findings, and reports on audits and special reviews of awardee financial integrity and compliance with NEA and Federal requirements, the economy and efficiency of operations, and program results. Interpreting agency policies and provisions to develop audit and special review procedures, instructions, work plans, and schedules. Providing awardees technical assistance in the area of financial compliance and internal controls. Conducting quality control reviews of other audit work and draft reports. Performing other related duties as assigned.

Education

Requirements

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959 You may be required to serve a probationary period.
