Quality Engineer – Prototyping

Company is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Quality Engineer, Prototyping to join its team.

In this role, you’ll help ensure that prototype parts, assemblies, and manufacturing processes meet high-quality standards throughout the design, fabrication, assembly, and inspection lifecycle. You’ll work cross-functionally with design engineering, fabrication, CNC, additive manufacturing, harness, assembly, and metrology teams to support quality processes and drive issue resolution in a fast-paced prototyping environment.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, process-driven, and experienced in manufacturing quality systems, inspection methodologies, and engineering documentation.

As a Quality Engineer, Prototyping, you'll:

• Review Jira tickets to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and proper process documentation.
• Create balloon drawings and inspection report templates to support inspection and quality validation activities.
• Review inspection documentation and support approval workflows in accordance with established quality processes.
• Support nonconformance investigations and follow established escalation and resolution procedures when issues are identified.
• Maintain quality dashboards and provide recurring progress updates and reporting for inspection and prototyping teams.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and metrology teams to support product quality and process improvements.
• Help ensure manufacturing, inspection, and assembly activities comply with established quality standards and best practices.

Ideal candidate profile

Bonus Qualifications Automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier experience Process Improvement certification (Lean Six Sigma / Shainin) Knowledge about CMM programming, IPC 620 & ESD best practices

Daily tasks

The Quality Engineer in the Prototyping division of company , known as XOPS, will ensure that all processes that are conducted during the design, manufacturing, assembly, and inspection of parts follow company's high-quality standards. You will be assigned to the XOPS quality department and, as part of the daily routine in this role, you will interact with the different functional groups within XOPS, including Design Engineers, Fabrication, CNC, Additive Manufacturing, Harness, Assembly Technicians, and the Metrology group.

Qualifications

BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field 4 to 6 years of experience in quality/manufacturing Experience with Quality Management standard practices (and APQP as a bonus) Knowledge about GD&T Able to work with minimal supervision
