For over 40 years, the Violence Intervention Program (VIP) has been the leader in building transformative programs that raise the standard of care for all victims of child abuse, neglect, and sexual assault in Los Angeles County. Today, VIP functions as a public-private partnership between the publicly funded VIP Children’s Medical Village at the LAC+USC Medical Center and our non-profit, the VIP Community Mental Health Center, Inc. (VIP-CMHC). Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Specialist ensures the external and internal requirements are met for all VIP mental health programs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Assurance/Quality Improvement Manager, the QA Specialist is responsible for the following:
· Ensures the agency’s Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) funded programs adhere to the DMH policy and procedures, contractual requirements, and guidelines.
· Conducts chart reviews of clinical documentation and outcomes, prepares summary of findings reports and makes recommendations based on findings.
· Provide consultation and training to clinical and non-clinical staff on the agency health record, medi-cal documentation, collaborative documentation, and other trainings as assigned.
· May represent agency during federal, state and/or county audits.
· Responds to requests for information.
· Assists with the management of the agency’s electronic record, including, updating forms, creating new forms, etc.
· Develops and maintains Quality Improvement systems, policy and procedure, operational guidelines relating to compliance standards.
· Prepares and distributes reports and recommendations.
· Act as a QA/QI Team Lead assigning tasks, offering operational guidance, and monitoring the work of the QA Specialist and QI Specialist.
· Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
· MA, MS, Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or related field.
· Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
· Knowledge of DMH/Medi-Cal documentation requirements.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Energetic, detail-oriented, organized individual.
· Knowledge of and expertise in clinical quality assurance, clinical charting methods, and clinical best practices.
· Spanish speaker who can read and translate documents.
DESIRED SKILLS
· Excellent data management skills.
· Familiarity with CQI.
· Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities successfully.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be willing to submit to a background investigation.
· Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
