Scope of Project
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is seeking a Software Tester / QA Analyst to ensure product quality by creating comprehensive test coverage and implementing automated test scripts.
The role focuses on improving defect prevention, enhancing system reliability, and reducing manual testing efforts across Agile development processes.
Responsibilities
• Develop detailed, reusable, and traceable test cases based on business requirements and user stories
• Participate in test planning, scenario identification, and execution of manual and automated tests
• Build and maintain automation frameworks (preferably Playwright)
• Develop automated test scripts for regression, functional, and smoke testing
• Identify, log, and track defects with proper documentation and severity levels
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI)
• Provide reporting on test coverage, defect trends, and automation progress
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, business analysts, and project managers
Required Skills
• 7+ years experience writing manual test cases and converting them into structured test suites
• 5+ years hands-on experience with test automation tools (Playwright preferred)
• 4+ years experience in programming/scripting languages (Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, etc.)
• 3+ years experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control tools (Git)
• Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and QA best practices
• Experience with API testing tools (Postman, RestAssured or similar)
• Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills
• Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, LoadRunner)
• Knowledge of BDD frameworks (Cucumber, SpecFlow)
• Exposure to Oracle/APEX systems and financial systems
• ISTQB or equivalent QA certification
