Overview
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking an experienced QA Engineer Automated 3 to design, develop, and execute automated database testing solutions. This role will be responsible for creating automated test scripts, developing test plans and execution strategies, performing functional, regression, and performance testing, and ensuring data integrity across database environments.
The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with development teams, database administrators, and business stakeholders throughout the software testing lifecycle to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop automated database testing solutions and test automation frameworks.
- Create and maintain automated test scripts for database validation and testing activities.
- Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and execution strategies.
- Perform functional, application, regression, and performance testing.
- Identify, document, track, and report software defects and testing results.
- Collaborate with developers and database administrators to investigate and resolve issues.
- Validate data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across multiple database systems.
- Monitor database performance and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Gather testing requirements and objectives from business and technical stakeholders.
- Maintain and update testing documentation based on changing requirements and project needs.
- Support software quality assurance processes throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience designing automated database testing scripts and frameworks.
- 8+ years of experience prioritizing test scenarios and developing execution plans.
- 8+ years of experience creating test plans, test cases, and test environments.
- 8+ years of experience performing functional, application, and regression testing.
- 8+ years of knowledge and experience working within Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
- Strong ability to interpret business and technical requirements and update testing documentation accordingly.
- Excellent analytical, planning, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Strong teamwork, collaboration, and customer-facing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience with the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) Project Delivery Framework (PDF) and associated templates.
- Familiarity with enterprise information architecture and information management methodologies.
- Understanding of current and emerging software technology architectures and infrastructure components.
Work Location Requirements
- Candidates must currently reside in Texas.
- Candidates must live within a 50-mile radius of Austin, TX.
- Hybrid work schedule requiring onsite attendance on Mondays and Tuesdays.
- Remote work flexibility may increase at HHSC’s discretion.
- Candidates relocating from outside Texas will not be considered.
