Purchasing Specialist


Position Summary

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and materials needed to support business operations. This role ensures inventory availability, cost efficiency, and strong supplier relationships while maintaining accurate purchasing records and supporting supply chain processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create and process purchase orders based on inventory levels and demand forecast
  • Source products and materials from approved suppliers and vendors
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and contract terms with vendors
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to avoid shortages or overstock
  • Track order status, shipments, and delivery timelines
  • Resolve discrepancies related to pricing, quantity, or delivery issues
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and vendor records in ERP or procurement systems
  • Collaborate with operations, warehouse, and sales teams to forecast supply needs
  • Evaluate supplier performance and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Support continuous improvement of procurement and supply chain process

Qualifications

  • Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain preferred
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
  • Excellent organizational and analytical abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple purchase orders and deadlines
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc. a plus
  • Understanding of inventory control and supply chain operations
