We are looking for a Prototype Assembly Technician specializing in optical system assembly and custom tool operation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in opto-mechanical and electrical assembly techniques (soldering, lamination, machining) and has a good attention to organization and cleanliness. The ideal candidate should be extremely motivated and able to work independently and with ambiguity. Experience in optical, mechanical and electrical testing is a plus.
Responsibilities:
Lamination and processing of optical assemblies for prototypes
Hands on active alignment of optical modules used in AR devices
Careful hand assembly work and part processing
Rework of prototypes and components, both mechanically and electrically
Operating custom calibration and assembly equipment
Writing documentation and reports relating to assembly practices and opto-mechanical test data
Minimum Qualifications:
Mechanical background and aptitude
5+ years of experience in a related technical field
BS in ME, optics or related technical field
Experience in R&D lab for product development
Rapid prototyping (multi-disciplinary collection of skills)
Laser safety experience
Calibration experience (camera-based sensors)
Experience authoring SOPs for assembly and test
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with clean room procedures and equipment
Optical metrology experience
Prior work in AR/VR or optical consumer products
Must-Have Skills:
Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and mechanical models
Clear and concise documentation of assembly and test procedures and reports
Familiarity with safely operating lasers (up to Class 3B/3R)
