Schmidt Construction part of the Levy Group of Companies is seeking a Project Superintendent for our Schmidt Construction division in Colorado Springs, CO.
The Project Superintendent is responsible for the field execution and overall operational success of
assigned paving and construction projects. This role leads field operations from project startup through
completion and is accountable for safety performance, production, schedule adherence, crew
coordination, and field quality.
Pay: $85-100k
Shift: Daytime Shift with Occasional Nights and Weekends

ResponsibilitiesThe Superintendent will: Field Leadership & Safety
- Lead daily field operations and supervise crews to ensure safe and productive performance
- Conduct and reinforce daily safety planning, job hazard analysis, and safety discussions
- Enforce company safety policies and immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors
- Ensure subcontractors follow Schmidt safety and site expectations
Production & Schedule Management
- Plan, coordinate, and direct daily work activities to meet production and schedule goals
- Develop short-term look-ahead plans in coordination with Estimators/Project Managers and
Operations - Adjust field operations as needed to address weather, material supply, or jobsite challenges
- Minimize downtime by ensuring crews, equipment, and materials are ready when needed
Crew & Equipment Coordination
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to field personnel
- Coordinate equipment usage and ensure proper care and operation
- Communicate labor and equipment needs to Operations leadership
- Support training and development of crew members
Vertical Integration Coordination
- Coordinate closely with asphalt plants, aggregate operations, trucking, and QC teams
- Communicate daily production needs and schedule changes
- Help prevent material or trucking delays through proactive communication
Quality Control
- Ensure all work meets plans, specifications, and company quality standards
- Coordinate with QC personnel for testing and inspection requirements
- Address deficiencies promptly to avoid rework
Communication & Documentation
- Provide daily updates on production, progress, delays, and jobsite conditions
- Work closely with Estimators/Project Managers on quantities, changes, and schedule impacts
- Maintain field documentation such as daily reports, production tracking, and crew time
- Represent Schmidt Construction professionally with customers, inspectors, and the public
Project Closeout Support
- Assist with punch list completion and final site activities
- Support smooth project closeout by ensuring field work is completed to standard
SkillsThe ideal candidate will have:
- Strong understanding of paving and heavy civil construction methods
- Proven ability to lead crews and manage multiple field operations
- Strong knowledge of jobsite safety and hazard recognition
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple crews, subcontractors, equipment, and trucking
- Problem-solving skills in a fast-paced field environment
- Self-motivated, dependable, and accountable
- Willingness to work extended hours and varying schedules based on project demands
- Valid driver’s license
