Project Estimator

Our client is a fast-growing mechanical and plumbing subcontractor specializing in HVAC, ductwork, sheet metal, plumbing, and general contracting based in Altadena, CA. We are seeking an experienced Project Estimator who can hit the ground running.

The ideal candidate is someone who brings existing relationships with GCs and owners, understands how to find and win work, and can operate portals, download plans, and manage a pipeline end to end.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, competitive estimates for mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC projects
• Access project portals (GCP, daily portals) to download plans and identify bid opportunities
• Build and maintain relationships with general contractors and project owners
• Follow up on leads, track bid results, and refine pricing strategy over time
• Collaborate with project managers and field operations to ensure estimate-to-actual alignment
• Support business development efforts by leveraging your existing GC and owner contacts
• Identify private sector opportunities in commercial, multi-family, industrial, and institutional markets

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating experience in mechanical, HVAC, or plumbing construction
• Proven private sector project experience; commercial, multi-family, warehouses, facilities, or schools
• Existing relationships with GCs and/or facility owners that can be activated immediately
• Proficiency with estimating software and project portals
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
• Strong communication and follow-through skills
• Residential-only experience is not a fit for this role

Compensation

• Base salary: $90,000 – $115,000 depending on experience
• In office Monday-Friday
