Salary Range: $74,000 to $80,000

The University of St. Thomas has provided a salary range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

JOB SUMMARY

The Professional Internship Program Director will develop and maintain the Professional Internship Program (PIP) for the Dougherty Family College at the University of St. Thomas. Emphasis will be on program development, organization; establishment of relationships with Internship Partners; management of intern placements, program design, and related opportunities; development of learning and engagement opportunities for students and companies; and development of assessment tools. The incumbent will work to enhance individual Internship Partner relationships; expand the number of participating organizations; implement program revisions and enhancements; and conduct ongoing program evaluation. As the program grows, the PIP Director will develop efficiencies in program design and maintenance; develop indicators and measurement tools; and establish recommendations and processes to ensure long-term sustainability. The PIP Director will also facilitate the partnership and placement agreements with each of the PIP partners and coordinate with the Career and Academic Success Coach in the development of programs, services, mentorships and other opportunities that provide mutually beneficial training and engagement for both the student intern and the host company.

This is a 12-month position that is renewable annually for three years. Continuation is dependent upon ongoing funding.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Program Development:
  • Develop and implement the PIP in partnership with DFC leaders and staff
  • Perform outreach to prospective PIP organizations and successfully secure their commitment to the program
  • Develop and incorporate program success strategies for diverse and underserved students, for whom internships are created
  • Design and manage the process for placing student interns with participating PIP organizations
  • Identify and create ongoing opportunities for students and participating PIP organizations to connect
  • Develop tools that assist with the assessment of student success in the PIP
  • Supervise graduate students enlisted to assist with developing and implementing the PIP
Training and Development:
  • Coordinate and partner with the DFC Career and Academic Success
  • Coach to develop professional workplace skills training objectives and curriculum, short- and long-term plans of action; initial assessment with corporate partners about workforce development needs; and intern evaluation tools for company supervisors
  • Develop curriculum and seminars, coaching sessions, and panel discussions (at least one per quarter) in coordination with Career and Academic Success Coach that integrate lessons learned at the Dougherty Family College and on-site work experiences; provide opportunities for Internship partners to become engaged with DFC students on-campus; and highlight resources in the broader community that could assist the students in their college and professional careers
  • Develop mentorship opportunities for Internship partners to participate in one-on-one interactions with students on campus
  • Develop a series of reflection exercises, journaling, and/or presentations for students to confirm the curricular intersections of their employment endeavors
  • Provide cultural competency orientation and training for partner companies
Program Management:
  • Develop measures, indicators and outcomes to evaluate the success of the PIP
  • Implement program revisions and enhancements
  • Ongoing dialogue with partners on refinement of program
  • Further develop of processes and program management with an eye toward efficiencies and long-term sustainability
  • Finalize and implement recommendations for improvement and long-term sustainability
CRM Management & Support
  • Maximize best practices within the CRM and data standardization for data analytics viewable by college and university leadership, collaborating with institutional reporting teams
  • Maximize decision making and management by ensuring the integrity of record data as it is purified and standardized
  • Quickly understand DFC administration/faculty/staff direction, structure, and requirements
  • Consult with departments and individuals on tools and resources to accomplish their goals
  • Participate in project planning, supporting in the execution and development of all Salesforce fields, objects and layouts
  • Support and Train DFC Administration, Faculty and Staff on best practices for successful use of the Salesforce platform
  • Design and develop all reports for the college while verifying data accuracy and integrity

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, education or a relevant field
  • Five years of program administration experience to include experience with student development, career counseling, or job placement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • experience developing partnerships and collaborative relationships, especially with corporations and non-profit organizations
  • experience facilitating small and large group activities, plan, and assess programs, and manage conflict
  • experience managing multiple projects involving a variety of constituents, including a demonstrated capacity to build relationships
  • experience and demonstrated ability to lead campus-wide projects, particularly related to serving racially diverse students at predominately white institution; and demonstrated competence working with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, (racial/ethnic, economic, religious, etc.), including a background in social justice or diversity and inclusion and work
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted
