Job Title: General Production Worker

Job Description

This role supports a long-established plastics manufacturer serving the automotive industry by operating injection molding equipment and performing hands-on production tasks. You will work in your own work cell to load and unload parts, complete basic assembly and trimming, and carry out quality checks on finished products. This position offers multiple shift options in a clean, modern manufacturing environment with clear paths for advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Operate within an assigned work cell to load raw or semi-finished parts into injection molding machines and unload finished components.
  • Work with injection molding processes to support consistent, high-quality production for automotive plastic parts.
  • Perform visual and manual quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet established standards and specifications.
  • Carry out light assembly tasks as assigned, including fitting, fastening, or combining parts to create completed components.
  • Trim excess materials or flash from molded parts using appropriate hand tools to achieve clean, finished edges.
  • Follow detailed work instructions, production schedules, and standard operating procedures to meet daily output goals.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area within the production cell.
  • Handle general labor tasks such as moving materials, staging parts, and assisting with basic machine-related activities as needed.
  • Use basic hand tools and production equipment safely and correctly during assembly, trimming, and inspection tasks.
  • Conduct routine visual inspections during production runs to identify defects and separate nonconforming parts.
  • Collaborate with team members and shift leads to support smooth production flow and timely completion of orders.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and report any equipment or quality issues promptly.
  • Work assigned shift hours consistently and reliably to support continuous manufacturing operations.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 months of manufacturing or production experience.
  • Demonstrated history of reliable attendance in previous employment.
  • Ability to perform general labor tasks in a production environment, including standing for extended periods and handling repetitive tasks.
  • Experience with loading and unloading parts or materials in a production setting.
  • Basic experience with production or machine operation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform visual inspections and basic quality checks on finished products.
  • Capability to use basic hand tools safely for trimming and light assembly work.
  • Willingness and ability to work assigned shift hours, including 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail to identify defects and follow quality standards.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferred experience operating production machinery, particularly injection molding equipment.
  • Previous machine operating experience in plastics manufacturing is a plus.
  • Comfort working around large presses and overhead cranes in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
  • Interest in developing skills for advancement into roles such as material handler or quality inspector.
  • Willingness to contribute improvement suggestions that enhance safety, quality, or productivity.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, modern, and spacious manufacturing facility with a large production floor and over 50 presses, including presses ranging from approximately 1,500 to 4,000 tons. The operation includes around 20 injection molding presses, such as dual profile rotary and two-shot injection presses from major manufacturers, supported by 60-ton overhead cranes. You will work within a dedicated work cell in a high-volume plastics manufacturing environment focused on automotive components. Multiple full-time shifts are available, including 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 2nd shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and 3rd shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. starting Monday night. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safety, with structured processes, standardized equipment, and a production-focused atmosphere.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Auburn Hills, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $16.50/hr.
