Our toy client is looking for a creative and hands-on Product Design Engineer Associate to join their team in Mountain View, California. In this role, you will have the opportunity to transform ideas into tangible products, working on innovative designs that inspire curiosity and creativity. Collaborating with a team of skilled designers and engineers, you will contribute to the entire development process, from initial concepts to prototypes and production-ready designs.
Responsibilities:
• Design and develop engaging toy products and builds that encourage exploration and creativity.
• Create mechanisms, components, and assemblies using design tools, iterating to refine functionality.
• Build and test physical prototypes with efficiency and precision to evaluate concepts.
• Conduct user testing with children to ensure designs are fun, clear, and user-friendly.
• Collaborate closely with the engineering team to provide and receive constructive feedback.
• Coordinate with manufacturers to oversee product sampling, testing, and adjustments for production.
• Participate occasionally in video content to explain product designs or demonstrate builds.
• Assist in creating instructional materials or video tutorials that empower users to confidently assemble products.
Requirements:
• Educational background in engineering, industrial design, toy design, or a related field.
• Portfolio showcasing experience in designing physical products, mechanisms, and prototypes.
• Proficiency in design software and willingness to expand expertise in new systems.
• Familiarity with rapid prototyping technologies such as laser cutting, 3D printing, and hardware.
• Experience with Arduino, sensors, robotics, or embedded systems is advantageous.
• Passion for hands-on prototyping and solving challenges through experimentation.
• Strong communication skills and openness to collaboration and feedback.
• Enthusiasm for toys, learning-focused products, and creating engaging experiences for children.
