Machine Tool Research is seeking a detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to support sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management for commercial components used in large machine tool rebuild and retrofit projects.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring materials are available, cost-effective, and aligned with production needs—working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to keep projects moving.

What You’ll Do
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies to identify reliable, cost-effective suppliers.
• Issue RFQs, evaluate quotes, and negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
• Create and manage purchase orders to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, responsiveness, and cost control.
• Coordinate material purchases to support production schedules and project timelines.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and support strategic purchasing initiatives.
• Track and follow up on open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery and compliance.
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure materials meet project specifications and quality requirements.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier data, and inventory visibility.
• Stay informed on market conditions, supplier capabilities, and pricing trends.
These responsibilities align with sourcing, supplier management, and ensuring timely procurement of materials critical to production.
What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience accepted.
• 5–7 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or materials management within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to negotiate pricing, contracts, and supplier agreements.
• Experience working with ERP systems (Syteline preferred), Microsoft Office, and/or Google Workspace.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both suppliers and internal teams.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy, cost control, and follow-through.
• Continuous improvement mindset and ownership mentality.
Pay Transparency
In accordance with New York State law, the expected salary range for this position is $65,000 – $72,000 per year, depending on experience, education, and related qualifications.
