Summary:

Develop new and improved processes for the manufacture of hose and hose assemblies; set-up and maintain manufacturing specifications, ensuring the hose, assembly components and packaging comply with the blueprint and material requirements specified by our customers. Proactively support APQP teams to help insure the smooth introduction of new products.


Essential Tasks (Responsibilities):


Ensures conformance with environmental, health and safety regulations, policies and practices.

Develop new and improved processes to facilitate the manufacturing of current and new hose and hose assemblies.

Review, evaluate, and correct manufacturing problem areas relating to the manufacturing of hose and hose assemblies.

Maintain manufacturing specifications and initiate product change notices to update material and process changes.

Participate in cost reduction programs, including initiating and evaluating cost reduction projects.

Evaluate and recommend new vendors or raw materials for improved processing or cost reduction.

Assure the manufactured product meets or exceeds the dimensional, functional and material specifications as required by the customer.

Communicate with all plant personnel and Technical Center Engineers/Chemists, Customer Service to insure the goals of the FRS organization are met and exceeded.

Actively support Customer APQP teams to help insure the smooth introduction of new parts and products.

Develop packaging for new parts.

Develop the component packaging and quantity per container during workcell design.

Is accountable for the design and development of production processes and evaluation and correction of manufacturing problems relating to material, process and product design.

Provides support for manufacturing concerns as well as customer concerns.

Additional Responsibilities (other requirements):

Is notified of any manufacturing problems concerning material, process, and product design. The incumbent then investigates and evaluates the problem and initiates the corrective action once data has been gathered.

Will establish the packaging for new parts and maintain packaging on existing parts.

Establish a rapport with all plant personnel, plant personnel in other ACG facilities, the customer service group, Corporate Sales Office and Technical Centers. Must also communicate with customers and suppliers as required.

Has the authority to decide if a new product, process or material is suitable for production use.

Can initiate change notices to set up new manufacturing specifications, change existing manufacturing specifications, change or amend assembly specifications and bills of material upon approval of the factory change notice.

This position can initiate Emergency Change Authorizations for changes in the products that require immediate action.

Guidance is given to lab technicians concerning testing requirements and is also to production associates in solving product, process and material problems. Guidance is also given to the Manufacturing Engineering Department for setting up new processes or making adjustments to the current process.


Education, Training, Experience Required:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering or a Science discipline and one to seven years related experience.


Must have a thorough knowledge of engineering fundamentals, extrusion, hose design principles, product and production processes, OEM procedures, quality assurance techniques, and tools such as statistical process control, 8-D problem solving techniques, product test procedure, team work and interpersonal skills as well as an understanding of Lean principles and organizational procedures.
