Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $102,216 - $135,438. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

 

Join Our Team as a Staff Process Engineer!

 

The Process Engineer III manages projects of higher complexity with limited supervision, focusing on process optimization, equipment upgrades, and troubleshooting compounding, molding, and vacuum dispensing systems. This role requires advanced technical expertise in polymer formulations, products, process equipment, root cause analysis, and process improvement. The engineer collaborates across all teams and levels, provides peer coaching, and trains maintenance technicians to ensure operational excellence and reliability. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Performance: Diagnose and resolve complex process and equipment issues, using root cause analysis with minimal support. Provide day-to-day problem-solving support for production operations. 

  • Data Collection & Analysis: Lead problem-solving, manage and conduct experiments, analyze process data, and prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and standard work documentation. Perform thermal or mold flow simulations for mold and process design.

  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Drive process improvements and automation projects to enhance yield, reduce scrap, and improve reliability across production systems. 

  • Project Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute projects involving advanced equipment and systems, ensuring timely completion and alignment with operational goals. Own projects from initiation to implementation, including large-scale improvement projects. 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations, maintenance, facilities, design engineering, operations, and R&D teams. Provide technical feedback to facilities and communicate implementation plans to leadership.

  • Technical Expertise & Development: Serve as a subject matter expert on manufacturing processes, process equipment, and troubleshooting equipment performance issues. Develop best practices, advise on technical standards, and support cross-functional teams with specialized expertise. 

  • Coaching & Training: Mentor lower-level engineers and coach entry-level positions, creating a culture of shared knowledge and team collaboration. Train maintenance technicians on process operations and promote knowledge sharing within the team. 

     

  • Compliance: Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance. 

  • Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required. 

  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with others. 

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

 

What you’ll Need To Succeed:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university majoring in Mechanical, Chemical or Materials Engineering or a related major.

  • Preferred: Masters in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials or other related Engineering field 

  • 5-7 Years of experience in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial engineering. 
  • Great skills in effective problem-solving and able to communicate across some levels of the organization related to concepts of supply-chain and production. 

  • Great understanding of various manufacturing technologies and methods, preferably within the process or chemical manufacturing industry. 

  • Great interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience. 

  • Great communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation), able to partner with and communicate with customers, both technical and non-technical. 

  • Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the quality function.

  • Excellent organizational planning, coordinating internal and external resources, and juggling key demands  

  • Sound business sense and analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed actions, solve complex problems, and drive learning.  

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, including the flexibility to work extended hours when necessary.  

  • Great computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office applications, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and Access, or other similar systems. Including great data analysis skills.

Preferred:

  • Basic Experience with CAD, Factory Talk or Wonderware HMI, Sigmasoft or Ansys Simulations.
