*Subject to changeDESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provide engineering and project management assistance in the administration of design and construction of Capital Improvement Projects such as installation of water and/or wastewater lines, & water & wastewater facility improvements associated with pump stations, lift stations, valves, and process related infrastructure. Prepare and/or review design and construction plans, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates. Review and process contracts, invoices and pay estimates, supplemental agreements or appropriations, change orders, request for information and request for council action. Attend and conduct design/construction progress meetings and on-site field observations/inspections. Assist with management of design consultants and construction contractors. Investigate and respond to inquiries by other City of Houston departments, consultants, agencies, contractors and the public.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is physically comfortable. This position will require standing, walking, bending, minor lifting, climbing stairs, and the ability to perform field investigations and negotiate field hazards.

This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier IIILevel.EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTSRequires graduation from approved curriculum in engineering that is approved by the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers with a satisfactory standing.

OR

Requires graduation from an engineering or related science curriculum at a recognized institution of higher education, other than a curriculum approved by the Board and passage of the eight-hour fundamentals of engineering examination prescribed by the Board.

OR

Possession of a valid Engineering-in-Training Certificate issued by the Board under the current requirements of the Texas Engineering Practice Act.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSNo experience required.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS None**Preference will be given to candidates with degree concentration in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
