A kind, active, and growing Los Angeles family is seeking a talented and low-key Private Chef to join their household team. The ideal candidate is a true culinary professional with a passion for fresh, mindful cooking, sourcing the highest quality ingredients, and preparing meals that reflect both health-conscious living and adventurous culinary palate, in a family-style setting. The family enjoys a variety of cuisines, particularly Mediterranean, European, and other international flavors, with a Californian farm-to-table ideology, and requires someone who can thoughtfully accommodate dietary preferences and restrictions as they arise. This role offers a consistent weekly schedule with opportunity to travel.

A passport and travel readiness are required.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide lunch/dinner service five nights per week, with flexibility for some weekends when needed
  • Plan menus and document recipes, dietary restrictions, and food preferences
  • Prepare fresh, farm-to-table meals using seasonal and high-quality ingredients
  • Cook a variety of cuisines with emphasis on Mediterranean, European, and other global inspirations, in family style service
  • Accommodate dietary needs and preferences, including pescatarian and vegetarian meals
  • Prepare meals for small staff, or set aside suitable leftovers
  • Support entertaining, including informal family gatherings, guest dinners, and formal dinner parties (with extra support for larger events)
  • Collaborate with household staff to ensure seamless service for events and daily meals
  • Manage kitchen organization, inventory, and sourcing of ingredients
  • Shop for food and supplies; maintain organized inventories
  • Maintain sanitation and safety standards for kitchen and dining areas
  • Travel occasionally with the family and adapt menus as needed


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Private Chef or in fine dining environments
  • Strong background in farm-to-table cooking and use of fresh, seasonal ingredients
  • Skilled in a wide variety of cuisines, with emphasis on Mediterranean, European, and globally inspired menus
  • Ability to accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences with creativity, care, and precision
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to plan and execute menus independently
  • Calm, flexible, low-key, and collaborative, with a discreet and professional demeanor
  • Comfortable with occasional travel and shifting between multiple residences
  • Culinary degree preferred but not required with equivalent experience
  • Ability to travel on occasion


Schedule: 5 days per week (Tuesday-Saturday) primarily lunch/dinner service, with occasional special requests and flexibility when required


Compensation: 160-200K DOE, PTO + benefits


Location: Los Angeles
