Overview
We’re hiring a Preconstruction Manager for a well‑established, highly respected ESCO in Illinois.
What You’ll Do
1. Define the project before it exists
You’ll take early ideas — remodels, expansions, municipal facilities, K‑12 improvements, bus barns, commercial upgrades — and turn them into real, buildable concepts by:
- Understanding customer goals and constraints
- Translating needs into clear scope
- Identifying budget, schedule, site, code, and utility limitations
- Determining feasibility and recommending solutions
2. Lead site walks and facility audits
3. Build the conceptual design
4. Create the budget and cost estimate
5. Develop scopes of work
- General construction
- Structural and site work
- Envelope improvements
- Specialty trades
6. Work directly with customers and sales
You’ll be a trusted advisor to owners, school districts, municipalities, and commercial clients
7. Coordinate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors
- Engaging architects for design packages
- Coordinating with structural, civil, and MEP engineers
What We’re Looking For
- 5–12 years in preconstruction, estimating, or project development
- Strong experience in design‑build environments
- Background in architecture, structural engineering, or GC preconstruction
- Ability to develop conceptual designs and early‑phase scopes
- Strong communication and customer‑facing skills
- Experience with commercial, industrial, K‑12, or municipal projects
- Proficiency with estimating tools and construction technology
What’s in It for You
- Competitive base salary
- Commission on completed projects
- High‑visibility role as the first point of contact on all new work
- Opportunity to shape projects from concept to contract
- A stable, reputable design‑build firm with long‑term clients and a strong pipeline
