Position Summary

Milhaus is seeking an Estimator to support and work with development, operations and construction staff in the review of project plans, requirements and specifications. The Estimator shall have extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs and engineering principles. This individual must provide conceptual estimates as well as hard-bid pricing, as needed.

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Solicit bids and estimates from subcontractors and suppliers
• Prepare cost estimates for proposals and bids
• Coordinate, review and comment on design documents during all design phases for in-house projects or 3rd party projects.
• Cost evaluation and plan review of pre-construction proposals and projects
• Prepare project scopes and review project and subcontractor scopes as necessary
• Estimate all phases of construction, site work through electrical, as required
• Preparation of all project front end documentation as necessary and outline specifications and proposals for pre-construction projects
• Review statistical information of both estimates and actual costs on a regular and consistent basis as a check on current estimates

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction, estimating / preconstruction preferred
• Bachelors Degree in construction, civil engineering, architecture, or related field
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with detailed plan review
• Strong budget management skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively multitask and work independently on a variety of projects
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
