Advertised Job Summary
The postdoctoral associate will play a central role in an NSF -funded project focused on investigating nitrogen isotope fractionation(d¹5N) during ammonia (NH3) gas-to-particle conversion and oxidation processes. The associate will be responsible for conductinglaboratory experiments, analyzing isotope data, and integrating these findings into atmospheric models to enhance understanding of NH3 emissions, transformations, and their role in particulate matter (PM2.5) formation and reactive nitrogen cycling. Additionally, thepostdoc will prepare reports, manuscripts, and presentations to disseminate findings and will mentor graduate and undergraduate
students participating in the project. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in atmospheric chemistryand isotope geochemistry.
Required Education and Experience
Preferred Qualifications
• Requires a Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in Chemistry, Atmospheric Sciences, Environmental Chemistry, or a related field by the start date of employment, with demonstrated expertise in Atmospheric Chemistry.
• This expertise may have been acquired during the course of their doctoral research or through equivalent experience in the field.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• The ideal candidate should possess a solid background in atmospheric chemistry and isotope analysis, with relevant hands-on experience in laboratory experiments and data analysis.
• They should have expertise in conducting and interpreting isotope fractionation experiments and integrating data into atmospheric models.
• A track record of publications in atmospheric chemistry or a related field is required.
• The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in preparing detailed written reports, manuscripts, and delivering oral presentations to effectively communicate research findings.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential.
