Position Overview

The Planner/Scheduler is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining project and operational schedules to support construction and utility field activities. This role ensures efficient resource allocation, timely material availability, and alignment between planning, engineering, and field execution teams. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in construction or utility operations.


Required Experience:

  • 5–7+ years of experience in planning, scheduling, or project coordination within utilities or construction
  • Experience with transmission, distribution, or infrastructure projects preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficiency in scheduling software (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, workflows, and sequencing
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Familiarity with GIS or work management systems is a plus


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules for construction or utility operations using scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, field crews, and contractors to define scope, sequencing, and timelines.
  • Monitor schedule progress, identify risks or delays, and recommend corrective actions to maintain project timelines.
  • Plan and schedule labor, equipment, and materials to ensure job readiness and efficient execution.
  • Prepare short- and long-term forecasts, including weekly and multi-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Track and report key performance metrics, including schedule adherence, productivity, and resource utilization.
  • Support work request management, including prioritization, tracking, and closeout of activities.
  • Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment.
  • Participate in planning and coordination meetings, providing updates on schedule status and constraints.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including schedules, reports, and project records in compliance with company standards.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance scheduling processes and operational efficiency.


Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred
