TSR is seeking a Piping Designer to work with one of the largest EPC firms in the country. This is a contract position located in Corpus Christi, TX.


Under general supervision, the Piping Designer independently applies advanced engineering design techniques, makes decisions on engineering design problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions or to negotiate with key engineers and officials of other organizations. He/She will provide technical guidance to designers and is consulted extensively by associates and others with a high degree of reliance placed on scientific interpretations and advice. Job role contributes directly to value creation.


This position is located at a client site in Corpus Christi, TX. No relocation or per diem will be offered.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Aid in developing piping discipline design schedules and updating regularly
  • Work to meet any and all deadlines as required by project schedules
  • Perform fieldwork, pulling measurements, locating tie-ins, as-building existing systems, etc. develop detailed scopes
  • Create new and/or revise existing 2-D MicroStation drawings (P&ID’s, arrangements, sections, details, supports, diagrams
  • Create arrangements, plans and isometrics using 3-D software
  • Assemble design packages (for piping/mechanical portion) including scope of work, transmittal, drawings, vendor information, and E3D generated bill of materials (pipe, pipe components, fasteners, gaskets, and pipe supports).
  • Work from P&ID's, client specifications and vendor data to design complex piping systems for a chemical facility
  • Conduct design reviews for construction, maintenance, and operations personnel using 2-D drawings and E3D 3-D software
  • Ensure completed design is functional, maintainable and designed with safety and that all applicable codes have been followed and maintained
  • Interface with other disciplines
  • Work with Construction as needed during the installation of the project.
  • Review work of team members within pipe design
  • Review project design estimates and work scopes for new projects.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 5 years of PDMS/E3D experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of piping design experience
  • Proficient in MicroStation and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) preferred
  • Great communication skills and ability to lead project reviews
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary design team
  • Field experience is preferred.
  • Candidate must be able to:
  • Stand or sit for periods of up to 4 hours
  • In case of an emergency wear a 5 minute escape pack, carry app. 8 lb. bottle of air to an evacuation point and then if necessary, carry the bottle while walking app. 10 minutes to an alternate evacuation point
  • Climb stairs and ladders
