Job Title: Phlebotomist II

Location: River Falls, WI 54022

Duration: 03 Month Contract (Possibility of extension or conversion)

Shift: Mon-Thursday 11 am - 7:30 pm, Friday 8 am - 5:30 pm

Pay Rate: $22 - 25/hour (W2) (Based on experience and education)

Job Summary

The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, representing the organization with professionalism and care. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, ensuring accurate labelling and documentation, and maintaining a safe, patient-focused environment. The PSR II builds trust with patients by clearly explaining procedures and performing phlebotomy in a skilled, safe, and compassionate manner.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily activities accurately and within established timelines under the direction of a supervisor
  • Collect blood specimens (venipuncture, capillary, paediatric, and geriatric) following standard procedures
  • Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing
  • Verify patient identity and demographic information before specimen collection
  • Ensure proper labelling of specimens in the presence of the patient and obtain patient confirmation/signature
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with policies
  • Adhere to safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards
  • Create a professional, welcoming, and patient-focused environment
  • Demonstrate strong organizational commitment and promote a positive company image
  • Support both clinical and forensic specimen collection when required


Work Environment & Flexibility

  • May be assigned to patient service centres, doctor’s offices, or other locations as needed
  • Flexible schedule required, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts
  • Travel between multiple locations may be required with minimal notice


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong phlebotomy skills, including paediatric and geriatric collections
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in high-volume settings
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and empathy
  • Proficiency in basic computer and data entry tasks


Education & Certification

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training (preferred)
  • Phlebotomy certification (preferred; required in certain states such as California, Nevada, and Washington)


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience (including paediatric and geriatric collections)
  • At least 2 years in a Patient Service Centre environment (preferred)
  • Prior customer service experience in a retail or service setting (preferred)


Additional Requirements

  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (if applicable)
  • Clean driving record (if applicable)
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments and business needs


Immunization Requirements

  • Required: MMR, Varicella, TDaP, TB
  • Recommended: COVID-19 and Influenza vaccinations
