Job Title: Phlebotomist II

The primary role of the Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
• Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
• Decontaminate and update patient information as necessary.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
• Understand and follow physicians' orders precisely.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Ensure 100% accuracy by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples at the required temperature.
• Follow specific procedures to maintain the integrity of specimens during transport.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to provide information.

Essential Skills

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in blood specimen storage.

Work Environment

The work environment is a fast-paced lab or hospital setting where you will be required to perform blood draws, labeling, and specimen storage with attention to detail and compliance with safety regulations.

This is a Contract position based out of Santa Rosa, CA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Santa Rosa,CA.
