Payroll Specialist

Lucas James Talent Partners is excited to be partnering with a long-standing, mission-driven organization in the nonprofit/benefits administration space on a Payroll Specialist search in Chicago. This is a hybrid opportunity (Office located near O'hare/Rosemont) offering strong stability, meaningful work, and one of the most competitive benefits packages in the market.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning payroll end-to-end while also getting involved in process improvement, systems, and reporting.

What you’ll be doing:

• Process weekly payroll for both union and non-union employees
• Ensure compliance with CBAs, wage & hour laws, and payroll regulations
• Manage employee lifecycle payroll changes (hires, terms, promotions, etc.)
• Partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and Total Rewards
• Support audits, reporting, and help drive HRIS/process improvements

What we’re looking for:

• 3+ years of payroll experience (union experience is a big plus)
• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and regulations
• MUST HAVE Experience working with HRIS System - Workday
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills

Compensation & Benefits:

• $65K–$85K base salary (depending on experience)
