Job Description:

The Patient Access Specialist serves as a key point of contact for patients throughout the registration and intake process. This position focuses on delivering a positive patient experience while ensuring accurate documentation, insurance validation, appointment coordination, and financial screening activities.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous healthcare, customer service, administrative, or front-desk experience preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to navigate multiple computer systems while assisting patients
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with insurance verification, patient registration, or scheduling is a plus
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems is beneficial but not required


Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and assist patients by phone and in person
  • Coordinate appointment scheduling and updates as needed
  • Enter and maintain patient information with a high level of accuracy
  • Review insurance coverage and eligibility information
  • Discuss payment obligations and available financial options with patients
  • Collect required documentation and obtain necessary signatures
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to support patient care workflows
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with healthcare privacy standards
  • Utilize electronic healthcare systems to document and process patient information
  • Provide exceptional customer service and resolve patient inquiries professionally
