Position Summary

Our client is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to support patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and financial clearance activities within a large healthcare organization. This role serves as a key point of contact for patients and plays an important role in ensuring a smooth and positive patient experience while maintaining accurate records and compliance with healthcare regulations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients in person and over the phone
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments
  • Register patients and maintain accurate demographic information
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, referrals, and authorizations
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances
  • Explain financial responsibilities and payment options to patients
  • Obtain required consent and privacy documentation
  • Coordinate with providers, clinical staff, and insurance companies to support patient care
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies
  • Utilize electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms

  • Knowledge of insurance verification processes and medical terminology
  • Proficiency with computer systems and electronic medical records

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree or healthcare-related certification preferred
  • 1–2 years of healthcare registration, scheduling, patient access, medical office, call center, or customer service experience preferred
  • Experience with insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorizations preferred
