Paralegal

Ballinger Law Firm, Inc.
Charleston, SC

Certified Paralegal / Legal Assistant

Established family law firm seeking an experienced, certified paralegal for a full-time position with competitive compensation, benefits, and long-term growth potential.

We are looking for a skilled professional who can operate independently, manage a caseload alongside attorneys, and contribute meaningfully to case strategy, organization, and client service. This is not a purely administrative role. The right candidate will be trusted with substantive work and client-facing responsibilities.

What the Role Looks Like

You will be involved in every phase of a family law case, from intake through trial preparation. You will help keep cases moving, ensure deadlines are met, and serve as a key point of contact for clients and professionals involved in the case.

Your work will include managing attorney calendars and deadlines, coordinating hearings, mediations, and consultations, drafting and revising pleadings and discovery, preparing affidavits and financial documentation, and organizing trial and hearing materials. You will communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court staff, and you will work closely with attorneys to prepare cases for resolution or trial.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential, particularly in managing financial declarations and supporting documentation. The ability to think ahead, anticipate what is needed next in a case, and execute without constant supervision is critical.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking someone with at least five years of experience in a litigation-based law practice, ideally in family law. Certification as a paralegal is preferred. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required, particularly Excel, and experience with document management systems is important. Clio experience is a plus.

Equally important are strong technological and communication skills, professionalism, and sound judgment. You must be able to manage multiple priorities, interact effectively with clients and professionals, and maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer excellent compensation based on experience, along with bonus opportunities, health insurance, retirement matching, and generous paid time off. This is a stable, long-term position for someone who wants to be part of a well-run practice and do meaningful work.
