P6 Construction Project Scheduler
Position Type: Contract (Long Term)
Position Location: Houston, TX
Position Pay: Open to Market (Depending on Experience) + Per Diem
Travel: 50% to Billings, Montana and potentially other P66 sites
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a refinery portfolio of small projects. The projects are in various development stages and will be executed immediately to meet a Turnaround in early 2027.
- Plan and schedule the project from FEL through the Execution phase and Commissioning phase.
- Establish and develop, maintain project logic networks, schedules and risk management data, forecasting, earned value, schedule variance analysis and schedules quality check.
- Continuous liaison with Project Controls Manager and Project Management must be maintained to assure optimum utilization of information and manpower in order to satisfy project completion date
- Work with the Project Management Team and Project Discipline Leads to obtain project status
- Reports to the Project Controls Manager and may be responsible for the Pre-execution Phase.
- Originate and update an integrated project cost and schedule system.
- Write procedures and instructions for preparation and maintenance of project plans and schedules.
- Identify all activities on the project and develop logic using precedence diagram method (PDM).
- Prepare procedures for project control reporting including risk assessment and earned value.
- Program logic to include project benchmarks for the duration of the project.
- Organize and facilitate risk assessment interviews at the direction of the Project Control Manager.
- Construct logic network modifications to facilitate risk mitigation and contingency planning process
- Maintain the integrated schedule reflecting the relationship and interdependence of the engineering, procurement and construction functions.
- Reviewing schedule, progress and productivity of contractors, monitor and verify monthly earned value.
- Ensuring that everything is on time the deadlines of the project can be met. In the Execution Phase.

- Reviewing schedule, progress and productivity of contractors, monitoring and verifying earned value. Monitors actual progress and comparison to baseline, and reports the analysis, against the schedule, to project manager and Functional Managers. This allows for proper decision making in efforts to maintain or improve the project schedule.
- Consolidates information from Engineering, Procurement and Construction Project Management and Project Discipline Leads to develop the project schedules (baseline time-phased schedule with proper constraints) and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for assigned projects.
- Participates in weekly Schedule Reviews to ensure that schedule requirements are met.
- Meets with Engineering, Procurement, Project Management and Project Discipline Leads to obtain project status (e.g. engineering deliverables, procurement delivery schedules, installation start dates, etc.)
- Prepare Reports of Earned Value and variance of the Project Plan. Program approved recovery or work-around plans. Interface with the Contractors Planning and Scheduling Specialists to ensure that task data is incorporated into the integrated project schedule.
- Will coordinate with the Contractor and lead planning-oriented meetings with disciplines engineers and project management that will highlight and report status on upcoming project milestone events
Requirements:
- BS Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or other equivalent experience i.e. mathematics, statistics or project administration.
- 10+ years experience with downstream construction projects.
- Strong P6 experience is a must
- Develop and maintain construction schedules with little oversight.
- Construct logic networks and resource load schedules
- Monitor progress in comparison to baseline, report variance and analysis of project health and critical path
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of Planning and Scheduling methodologies.
